Dr Owen Arndt holds the position of Director (Special Projects – Road Design) within the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. In this position, Owen is responsible for managing research and development projects, update of manuals, provision of specialist advice, and training in the field of geometric road design. Owen has 45 years’ experience in the field of road planning and design and has researched and developed numerous road design standards for inclusion in state and national design guidelines and has won international awards for papers delivered in this field. Owen’s has recently completed a major research project on the safety performance associated with various types of heavy vehicles.
