Blackwater-Rolleston Road – Deep stabilisation for robust cost effective maintenance on thin, heavily loaded pavements

Jerome A. Egwurube is a Senior Engineer with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) in the Fitzroy District, where he leads pavement rehabilitation projects and applies research informed approaches to complex geotechnical challenges. In 2017, while at CQUniversity, he was engaged by DTMR to address dispersive soils along the Bruce Highway. He led a research team that used statistical analysis to optimise triple blend stabilisation, with the outcomes published in a peer reviewed journal. Jerome later collaborated with CQUniversity and QMAG on investigating magnesium oxide as a stabilisation agent for expansive soils in pavement rehabilitation.
Before joining DTMR in 2022, Jerome spent a decade lecturing at CQUniversity in geotechnical and pavement engineering. Prior to moving to Australia, he lectured at the University of Botswana and several universities in Nigeria and accumulated more than two decades of industry experience across both countries, contributing significantly to engineering education and practice.
