Dr Hamidreza Sahebzamani is the R&D and Technical Support Manager at SAMI Bitumen Technologies and a national Emerging Leader Award winner from the Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA).
He is a civil engineer with a strong academic and professional background in road and transportation engineering. He holds BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Tehran. His PhD research focused on the laboratory evaluation and numerical modelling of low-temperature cracking in asphalt mixtures. During his doctoral studies, he also broadened his technical and research experience through work at a laboratory and research centre in France.
Dr Sahebzamani has more than 15 years of professional experience in pavement materials, bituminous binders, asphalt mix design, pavement preservation, laboratory testing, research and innovation. In 2022, he joined SAMI Bitumen Technologies in Australia as Technical Services Manager, where he was responsible for technical support, customer engagement and technical marketing across a broad range of bituminous products and pavement solutions.
In December 2024, he was promoted to R&D and Technical Support Manager. In this role, he leads SAMI’s R&D team and central laboratory activities, with a strong focus on innovation, product development, technical governance, sustainability and customer-focused technical solutions for the road construction industry.
Dr Sahebzamani has authored more than 30 technical papers in reputable journals and conferences and has translated two technical books. He is actively involved in several industry committees and working groups, including Austroads, the Australian Flexible Pavement Association, the International Bitumen and Emulsion Federation, AustStab and Australian Standards.
His career demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing pavement engineering, particularly in the areas of sustainable road construction, innovative bituminous materials, asphalt technology and practical industry-focused research.
