Madeleine McManus OAM, FIEAust, NER, CPEng, EngExec is a distinguished engineer and leader with over 25 years of experience with a global career focusing on innovation, sustainability and optimising outcomes for community. She is currently the CEO of the Centre for Pavement/Professional Engineering Education (CPEE)-started by all the State Roads and Transport Authorities in Aust & NZ, sits onAdvisory Boards for Monash & Swinburne Universities in Digital Construction, Engineering, Infrastructure, Regenerative Medicine and Mental Health in Construction, a Global Director of Robogals – a NFP encouraging more girls into STEM pathways, particularly engineering. , and Chair of Yarra Journey Makers the operators of Yarra Trams – the largest tram network in the world.
Some highlights include
• was the first woman to Chair Engineers Australia in Victoria – leading the engineering response to the Black Saturday Fires,
• At Monash she designed and introduced an international transformative collaboration program with industry and universities -winning three national awards of excellence,
• she was the first woman to be appointed CEO of CPEE
• was the Project Director for building the world’s largest LEGO suspension bridge for the World Engineering Convention in Melbourne in 2019.
She is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and in 2024, Roads Australia awarded her the John Shaw Medal in recognition of her “outstanding and innovative leadership over an illustrious career in transport and her continuing contribution to the sector going forward”. In 2017 she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for her services to engineering and education
