Collaborative Procurement 101 – opening the playbook

Author: Max Broadhurst

Collaborative procurement is a strategy that focuses on achieving greater value by working together with suppliers to jointly plan, source and buy goods and services. The benefits of collaboration are then sustained into the delivery phase, resulting in improved outcomes. The benefits of collaborative procurement include greater transparency, greater efficiency, optimized spend, and reduced costs.

TMR is deploying collaborative procurement to bring together procurement and project teams, industry stakeholders and suppliers to create an ecosystem that generates more value for all parties, delivers cost confidence and secures better outcomes for the Government and Queenslanders.

However, in order to implement collaborative procurement, a collaborative culture needs to be established and this means building trust, engaging suppliers and stakeholders, creating a common language, and leveraging technology and innovation.

This session will explore TMR’s approach to implementing collaborative procurement and contracting in transport infrastructure projects.
