Innovation in Traffic Signal Infrastructure – Distributed Signal Switching

David has over 45 years of experience covering all aspects of traffic signals. He has worked in the private and public sectors, both Local and State Governments.

In his various role some of the tasks undertaken included the design and development hardware and software, input into policies, procedures and practices relating to all aspects of traffic signal installations from concept to decommissioning and disposal.

Since the mid-1980s David has been involved in updating Austroads Guides and Australian Standards.

He is currently a committee member of the Australian Standards committee LG006, for Road Traffic Signals.

From the 1990s to early 2020s David presented training for the design and operation of traffic signal, at times in collaboration with ARRB, Safe System Solutions.

David has been an expert witness and provided expert witness reports in numerous courts and legal proceedings relating to the design, operation and timing of traffic signals.
