Operationalising Data Science in Asset Management: Machine Learning and Spatial Analytics for Road Networks

Giles Lewer is a Chartered Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer (Qld) with 30+ years in civil infrastructure design, construction, and maintenance. Specialising in asset management and pavement design, he focuses on sustainable, cost-effective rehabilitation and new pavement solutions. Giles has over two decades of experience on Queensland’s state road network and is currently Asset Manager on the Road Asset Management Contract Gen.2.
Jim Mahood, a Chartered Civil Engineer and Certified Practising Asset Manager, brings extensive expertise in road infrastructure, soil stabilisation, asphalt, and maintenance. He is Senior Asset Engineer on the Sydney Road Asset Performance Contract (SRAPC) Western Parkland Zone, optimising asset performance through innovative strategies.
Conor Murphy, an Asset Data Scientist on SRAPC, develops predictive models to forecast asset conditions and optimise performance. With a background in data science, he leverages analytics, spatial clustering, and data mining to deliver cost-effective asset management and meet KPIs.
