Ben is an Environmental Engineer working for Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) as a Senior Environmental officer. The challenges of Environmental Engineering can be viewed as two contradicting terms, however can be called an interpreter role, between the Engineering cohort and the Environmental team. Bens’ career has been varied, having worked in Coastal Development Assessment in early years, assessing pontoons and boat ramps with the occasional assessment of coastal processes inspecting erosion prone areas along the coast; worked as a consultant covering water quality, Environmental Planning and Contaminated Land investigations.

Bens’ time working in TMR has provided experience in construction based Environmental compliance, Development Assessment, Land remediation of degraded soils and supporting construction projects to achieve sustainability ratings through ISC. Some of Bens’ passions include improving Fish Passage in culvert and bridge crossings, working out how to manage PFAS, Waste reduction and Circular economy initiatives, and asking Civil and Structural Engineers difficult questions.
