Luke Friske is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng, RPEQ, NER, MIEAust) and senior road safety auditor with 19 years of experience in highway engineering, road safety auditing, and transport infrastructure delivery across Queensland. As a practising engineer, he has led road safety assessments, high-risk road evaluations, and geometric design for projects ranging from constrained mountain corridors to major motorway interchanges.
Through this hands-on experience, Luke identified a gap in using existing available data to undertake rapid, preliminary assessments that inform road deficiencies and potential safety issues. This led him to develop road.engineering, a cloud-based platform that integrates LiDAR-derived elevation data, road design tools, and historic crash data to enable cost-effective network screening without specialist software or survey data.
