Troy McKenzie is a Principal Advisor (Safety Technology Assets/Vehicle Monitoring Queensland) within the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. With more than 25 years of experience in transport operations, intelligent transport systems, and vehicle monitoring technologies, he leads the strategic development and delivery of Queensland’s Vehicle Monitoring Program.

Troy is recognised as a subject matter expert in Weigh-in-Motion, Automatic Number Plate Recognition, vehicle classification, and heavy vehicle monitoring systems. He has overseen the deployment and governance of Queensland’s statewide monitoring network and has contributed to major infrastructure projects, national Austroads initiatives, and international industry forums.

His work focuses on integrating emerging technologies, real-time data, and digital platforms to improve road safety, enhance heavy vehicle compliance, protect critical transport assets, and support evidence-based decision-making across Queensland’s road network.
