With over 45 years’ experience, David possesses extensive knowledge across all aspects of traffic signals. David is a qualified electrician and graduated from QUT with an Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering. David has continued involvement with Austroads spanning over 35 years. He partnered with ARRB then Safe System Solutions, to provide training in traffic signal design. His career highlights include involvement in the world’s first on-road distributed traffic signal switching installation, assisted in the development of an asset management system for traffic signals, and creating and managing his own company dedicated to optimizing isolated and coordinated operation of traffic signals. David currently works as manager of traffic signal technologies team within Department of Transport and Main Roads. David project managed the STREAMS development to use TRAFF. As a team member of the Emergency Vehicle Priority (EVP) project his proposed concept of operation was implemented and remains the basis of EVP today.
