Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (BPEQ)

The Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (BPEQ) has been fulfilling its role as the state’s engineering regulator since its establishment in 1930. BPEQ’s primary responsibility is administering the Professional Engineers Act 2002 (PE Act), which regulates the engineering profession and registers engineers to practice legally in Queensland.

Engineers who achieve registration with BPEQ earn the protected title of “Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland” (RPEQ). This title represents an engineer’s qualifications, competence, and experience within their field and signifies their commitment to upholding ethical standards and their dedication to continuous professional development.

Currently, over 21,000 RPEQs are registered across various engineering disciplines. Each RPEQ contributes to BPEQ’s mission of safeguarding the public interest and elevating the standards within the engineering field. BPEQ takes great pride in its role as Queensland’s guardian of engineering excellence.

BPEQ remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the public and advancing engineering practice standards.
