This is a case study that highlights the exemplary collaboration and successful outcomes achieved in the Crystalbrook Road Project (CN-18499) located in Proserpine, completed in Q1 2023. The project, set in an urban environment, faced significant challenges, particularly when discrepancies arose between ground conditions and the initial geotechnical investigation. However, through proactive communication and a commitment to shared goals that had been established from project commencement, the project team, including the Contractor, Project Manager, Administrator, E&T Pavement Representatives and Design Consultants navigated these challenges effectively.
Key to the projects success was the open dialogue and joint problem-solving approach adopted by all parties involved. The Contractor’s active participation in discussions with E&T representatives facilitated the identification of optimal solutions leveraging available resources and materials. In turn, the Administration team promptly and fairly assessed variations, demonstrating a mutual commitment to resolving issues in good faith.
Despite encountering unforeseen obstacles, the project was delivered ahead of the original completion date, within the overall project budget, whilst meeting the design intent and underscoring the effectiveness of collaborative efforts. This case study serves as a compelling example of the tangible benefits that can be realised through cooperation and serves as a framework for consideration for future projects, emphasizing the value of communication, partnership and a shared commitment to project success.
