Standards Australia will soon release the draft of AS 2312 Guide to the protection of structural steel against atmospheric corrosion by the use of protective coatings Part 3: Metal spray coatings. This standard includes thermal metal spray coatings with organic topcoats and these duplex systems can be expected to provide in excess of 40 years service life to first major maintenance, making them ideal for large steel structures that cannot easily be maintained. This presentation provides an overview of the contents of the standard and how it can benefit asset owners to prevent corrosion of their steel structures for extended periods of time.
