Recent and upcoming Pavement Technology updates for TMR

Author: Nidasan Sivasithamparam

The purpose of this presentation is to inform the audience about recent and upcoming pavement innovations and changes to pavement related technical documents and systems for use in TMR projects. These updates and initiatives provide value for money, improved performance outcomes and highlight TMR’s commitment to sustainability and decarbonisation. Some of these topics include:

  • the use of lower temperature asphalt to reduce emissions in asphalt production (MRTS30 and MRTS32)
  • highlighting the current use of high-modulus asphalt (EME2), and performance related pavement design of EME2 mixes in Queensland
  • implementation of a new technical specification (MRTS41) for smaller sized concrete pavement projects like bus interchanges, parking facilities, floodways, intersections, and so on
  • the mix design registration system for plant-mixed cementitiously stabilised materials (viz. MRTS08, MRTS10 and TN204) to improve the efficiency and consistency of mix design submissions and their assessment
